Virtual tour around the courtyard

The access to the courtyard and the arcade bridge is limited, yet, new technologies enable you to have a virtual walk around these places.

We have prepared for you four spherical panoramas that have been taken on the arcade bridge, behind the gate, on the castle courtyard and in one of the fortified towers.
The castle was not destroyed as a result of military activity. A Soviet commanding officer resided here after the war front passed in January 1945. The building was partially destroyed once the troops of the Red Army left the village. In mid 1946, a huge fire broke out for unknown reasons and completely destroyed the entire facility. Preservation works were performed in 1960’s. The interiors were cleared of rubble and some of the towers were roofed. In 1988 the castle was taken over by „Widzieć Muzyką” (See with the Music) Foundation, which initiated the reconstruction of the building. However, in 1990, due to the failure to comply with maintenance instructions, the works were discontinued. The castle is currently a private property. The owner’s main goal is to breathe life into this unique monument.

The view from the arcade bridge

The first spheric panorama was taken on the arcade bridge. The information on the bridge can be found in the description of the main route. There is a view on Lake Szymbarskie from the south and on farm areas from the south-east. You can also see marshy areas, which were formerly crucial for the castle’s defensive qualities. There is a high, 24 metre high gate tower to the right of the gate. It defended the access to the gate in the past. There is a „stork” tower in the north-eastern corner of the castle to the right. It has a deep vault that reaches the level of the moat.
